Successful program provides break for caregivers and balance for those with autism
July 13, 2015 – At the heart of its corporate values and culture, HighPoint Global supports organizations related to autism research, education and family support. After a successful pilot program last year, HighPoint Global will for the second year in a row, be the sole sponsor of the Respite Care Program run by the Autism Society of Indiana (ASI).
The Respite Care program was started as a pilot in 2014 as a means to provide a break for parents of children with autism while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for their children while they are away. HighPoint will donate $125,390 to fund the next year of operation for the program, which will support up to seven families who are not on the Medicaid waiver.
“I am thrilled at the success of the respite program and am honored to continue our support for the coming year,” said Ben Lanius, CEO of HighPoint Global. “I understand first-hand the impact of autism, and am truly touched by the inspiring stories of the families involved in this program. The Autism Society of Indiana has done such a great job implementing and running the program, and I look forward to our continued partnership to benefit families with autism.”
For 2015-2016, the program intends to expand the number of families it is able to help and will continue to organize family outings and playdates. The organization and HighPoint are also looking for ways to eventually replicate the program in other regions in Indiana as well as other states where HighPoint has offices and employees.
“We are so thankful for the financial and volunteer support that HighPoint provides,” said ASI’s Chief Executive Ally Dana Renay. “In its first year we saw how much this program meant to and impacted the families involved and look forward to expanding it to touch more lives in the future.”
